On a morning of widespread fixture cancellations across Lancashire Schools Rugby, the Audenshaw 1st XV defied the weather with a 40-0 victory over Ripley St Thomas. The 1st XV entered the game in confident mood having already registered another 40-0 victory earlier in the week over Rossall and were in no mood to let their standards slip as they won for the eighth time this year. Luke Nero was in stunning form again and grabbed the opening try with Dan Martin converting and it was a matter of only minutes before Charlie Pownell fed Wade McKie with a neat tip on to increase the lead to 12-0. Futher scores were added by stand off, Dan Johnson and outside back, Sufyan Amjad as the home team raced to a 24-0 half time lead. The defensive efforts of the red and whites were outstanding with Jack Lowndes and skipper, James Sharples adding some massive hits and Luke Wagstaff too was excellent on both sides of the ball. The 40-0 victory is testament to the great progress made by the school's senior team so far this year and demonstrates a brilliant response after some hard to take losses in the cup competitions in recent weeks. The visit of Wilmslow to Hazel Street on Saturday is a keenly anticipated one in what will be the final game of 2017. Games recommence on Saturday 13th January 2018 with the block against Manchester Grammar. Mr Rose
