The Audenshaw rugby teams face an especially busy period in the new half term with forthcoming action in both the Lancashire and National Cup competitions for our teams in and amongst the regular fixture program. The school's senior team enjoyed a strong start to 2017/18 with victories over Bolton School, St Mary's, Fallibroome and Queen Ethelburga's, thereby ensuring progression in all of the major cup competitions. Most pleasing has been the style of rugby that Audenshaw have been exhibiting with expansive wide play and some superb performances from centre pairing, Luke Nero and Jack Lowndes amongst the standout features. Dale Chadderton has led the way up front with his characteristic tenacious displays in defence coupled with a newly developed offensive prowess too. He has been well supported in the pack by fellow back row ace, Lewis Davidson who has stepped up to captain the side with distinction and by stalwarts, Luke Wagstaff and Niall Metcalfe who are both in great form. The "twin towers" duo of Marcus Wheatley and Toby Shaw have added a powerful new element to the Audenshaw lineout and U16 stars, Jenson Peters, Louie O'Reilly, Sufyan Amjad and Jordan Reader have each earned their 1st XV ties through making seven appearances for the side. The key games on the horizon include two away trips on successive Wednesdays to St Edward's, Liverpool in the NATWEST National Vase on Wednesday May 15th followed by another outing to AKS Lytham in the Lancashire U18 Schools Cup the following week. All of the school teams return to action on Saturday November 11th with games against St Mary's Crosby.
