The Audenshaw School U14 football team have progressed to the next round of the National Cup after a superb team performance away at Chorlton High School. Reece Bennett was on fire for the red and blacks as he scored twice and created a goal for his partner Wood in the first half. Domonic Littlewood was outstanding in the centre of the midfield and continuously closed down and applied pressure to Chorlton's danger man from Manchester United's academy side with ease. The back four looked solid with Broughton and Illingworth communicating well to eradicate the pace of the quick strikers from Chorlton. Mr. Sutherland tasked the side at half time to keep Chorlton to nil. Inevitably Chorlton scored within 30 seconds of kick off - the curse of the commentator! Audenshaw regrouped and performed well in an exciting second half. Littlewood added to the tally before Wood netted for a second time and Thompson scored a neat left footed effort to finish Chorlton off. The game ended 6-2 with Bennett claiming the man of the match award. Audenshaw will play against Hyde in a Tameside league game in the first week after half term. Mr. Sutherland will be testing his squad players to challenge for a place in the side for the next round of the Nationals.
