The first 'Systems Saturday'. Nice to be joined by such dedicated young men.
Audenshaw School's 1st XI Captain, Matthew Sonczak was in international cricket action over the weekend after his selection for Derbyshire CCC to face the West Indies. Sonczak, 18 received his call up to the county's first team to face the Caribbean aces after a string of impressive displays for both the Academy and 2nd XI. Sonczak continued the excellent form that we have seen nurtured through his seven years at Audenshaw and was unphased by going head to head with many of the best players in the world. In the first innings, the teenage star was succesful in dismissing centurion, Kyle Hope for 105 and claimed the scalp of wicketkeeper, Shane Dowrich and most notably the Windies skipper, Jason Holder in the second. Sonczak also impressed in the late order with the bat by hitting strike bowler, Kemar Roach for a boundary in his first over. The match resulted in a draw after the completion of the three days of play and Sonczak will now look forward to further first class action for Derbyshire after a superb debut. Mr Rose
