The Audenshaw U15 Cricket team enjoyed a superb victory over Oldham Hulme Grammar School yesterday to earn a place in the third round of the Lancashire Schools Cup. In the baking sun at Denton Cricket Club, the hosts were put in to bat and openers, Ben Mason and Ben Clayton made quick work of the bowling attack, making their way to 31 and 18 runs and respectively. Joel Turner came in at three, making a contribution of 9 and was followed by the excellent Luke Gilmore who reached 32, hitting three fours along the way. Harry Vernon from year 9 chipped in a rapid fire 22 and scores were also registered from Declan Holmes (13) and the huge hitting Ali Abdul (19 not out with two sixes) and Max Smith who was unbeaten on 2 taking Audenshaw to a total of 165/6 after their 20 overs. More impressive to come was the Audenshaw attack who at one point had reduced their opponents to 5/3 after some sublime deliveries from home skipper, Ben Mason who finished with stats of 4/6. Ben Clayton impressed too with 1/2 from 3 overs and Luke Gilmore, Ben Ebbrell and Declan Holmes all claiming scalps of their own. Overall it was a perfect afternoon for this impressive collection of players who will now face Ribblesdale High School in round three next week. Mr Rose
