Good luck to
@AudenshawSchool 1st XV scrum half D. Martin who starts for Lancashire against Yorkshire on Sunday
The 1st XV enjoyed a fine victory in horrendous conditions over Bolton School on Saturday morning. The home side began the stronger with multiple entries into the Audenshaw half but the resilient defence of the red and whites prevented any score. Audenshaw responded well with a powerful surge down Bolton's left channel with James Sharples, Jack Davies and Lewis Davidson all coming to the fore and it appeared all that was required was to keep going for what would surely have been the opening score. A questionable decision to spread the ball wide hurt the visitors who ended up deep into their own half and were the first to concede with a penalty, making the score 3-0. A converted try from the home team followed and Audenshaw found themselves against the ropes trailing 10-0. The second half saw a resurgent Audenshaw take full control of the game with Luke Nero's superb try to the right of the posts, converted by Ewan Roach leaving the reds trailing by just three. A penalty, again from Roach saw the two sides tied at 10-10 as the last quarter beckoned. The away team however, would have to come from behind again as a Bolton penalty allowed them to re-assume the lead but just as Audenshaw hopes were fading, stand off, Billy Whiston ghosted through the line exploiting the A-B gap to register the decisive try, Roach again adding the extras for a 17-13 lead. A period of intense goal line pressure followed with the Audenshaw defence resolute and emphatic scenes of joy were to come as Audenshaw celebrated a superb win. e.
