6 members of our team of Language Leaders have been trying out the teaching skills they have been developing since September.

H.Smith, C.Fox, J.Batson, T.Johnstone, B.Cockill and J.Ellam visited Russel Scott Primary School to teach Spanish to two Year 4 classes. The students taught two 30-minute lessons, based on Spanish food specialities.

Speaking of his team’s experience at Russel Scott, T.Johnstone said: “Talking in front of a big group really helps to build your confidence,” whilst C.Fox added: “It is quite nerve-racking at first but after 5 minutes it just gets easier.”

As the organiser of the Language Leaders programme said: “I am extremely proud of the progress our Language Leaders are making. They’re growing in confidence in their presentation skills and showing great teamwork when it comes to planning their lessons.”

Teachers at Russel Scott Primary have said how “impressed they were by our students.”
