At the end of September, we took 73 Year 10 students to the UK University Search event which was held at Old Trafford - Manchester United Football Club. Students had the opportunity to get involved in one of the biggest gatherings of University providers in the North West to see what sorts of qualification and courses are on offer across the county. Our students had some really positive things to say about the event including;
“I have been interested in going to university, after today I feel there are opportunities and jobs I can do by attending university.” – J.Scott.
“I didn’t really know where I wanted to go after school, however, now I know that I definitely want to go to university.” – R.Walton.
We have been invited to attend the same event in February 2020.
In addition to this, just before the October half term we held two Raising Aspirations Fairs in our main hall, all Year 11 students were given the opportunity to meet with local colleges, apprenticeship providers and universities to ask some final questions as they are completing their college applications. We also invited some Year 9 and 10 students along to experience their first Careers Fair and get used to talking to our exhibitors.
After the event some of our exhibitors shared their feedback with us;
“Students were interested and very engaging” – Edge Hill University.
“It was great to get the opportunity to chat to your students” – University Of Huddersfield.
We very much look forward to seeing all the exhibitors again in the next few coming months to be part of our continuing Raising Aspirations Programme.
