Aldwyn Primary School were crowned Champions at the 12th annual Audenshaw Primary Cluster Football Competition with a thrilling extra time victory over Russell Scott in the Final. The eventual winners did not have everything their own way in the group stages as despite victory over St Peter's B (4-1) and a draw with St Stephen's A (1-1) they were beaten 1-0 by a very strong team from Poplar Street. Superior goal difference however, was to see them advance into the final at the expense of the Poplar Street side who finished third overall with a victory over St Stephen's in the play off final.
Pool B saw some equally exciting encounters with Russell Scott topping the pool with 6 goals including successes over St Peter's A (1-0), Poplar Street B (2-0) and St Stephen's B (3-2). The final placings saw St Stephen's B finish second on 3 goals, Poplar Street B third with 1 and St Peter's A in fourth.
The games were played in tremendous spirit and with exceptional skill for players so young with many of the winning team as young as year 4. We look forward to welcoming everybody back to Audenshaw for the Indoor Hockey Finals next Wednesday.
