The U14 Rugby Team have enjoyed an exceptional week in which they took on and defeated two of the best school teams in the north of England. A 17-5 success over Crossley Heath School in Halifax was inspired by the outstanding Saul Inglis who claimed the man of the match spoils with his surging runs and tough tackles throughout the game. Damilola Akintola continued his superb run of form with his breaks from the back of the scrum and penalty carries and Cameron Scanlon's running of his team offence has seen him attract the attention of the professional scouts from Sale Sharks.
The highlight of the week came on Wednesday afternoon as the boys eliminated Manchester Grammar School from the Lancashire Schools Cup with a 26-17 scoreline. The red and whites began the brighter in this encounter, opening the scoring after five minutes with a powerful blast of the left channel creating the opening score but Audenshaw were to fall behind after some questionable defensive lapses and trailed 17-7 at the break. A number of decisive half time interchanges, namely the introduction of Logan Poulston, Marvellous Ohibirio and man of the match, Kwesi Boateng saw the game turn on it's head as three second half tries ensured that it would be the men from Hazel Street who booked their place in round two.
This week sees the visit of the teams from Bramhall to Audenshaw as we continue what is developing to be an extremely exciting campaign for all of our teams.
