The first 'Systems Saturday'. Nice to be joined by such dedicated young men.
The U14 Rugby Team began their account for 2018/19 with a 54-7 victory over Lancashire neighbours, Bolton School. The hard working Year 9 students who have endured a four month pre season including three sessions a week through the summer holidays displayed an impressive level of skill and strength to start their campaign in such devastating fashion. First half tries came from centre Jack Greenhalgh who raced in from 60 metres to the left of the posts, number eight, Damilola Akintola, powerhouse second row, Cole Beard and the brilliant Cameron Scanlon who marshalled his offence with supreme authority from the fly half position. Nathan Clare was as tough as teak in defence, routinely stopping Bolton's powerful centre and his surges on the Audenshaw left edge and was also close to flawless with the boot as the home team opened up a 33-0 half time lead. The second half saw the introduction of replacements, Kwesi Boateng and Ralph Hall who added further pace and penetration to the Audenshaw attack and debutant, Kyle Tomkinson was solid on his first performance after coming on for Dylan Dorman in the hooking role. Harrison Baker demonstrated exactly the form that has made him such an outstanding trainer through pre season and Luke Murray injected some important metre making as the second half progressed. Audenshaw can head to Stonyhurst on Wednesday in confident mood after this excellent display as they look to emulate the U14's of 2007/08 and 2013/14 who reached the Lancashire Cup Finals in their respective seasons as Y9 players. Well Done Boys.
