Former Audenshaw student and 1st XV Captain, Richard Ward has become the latest of our rugby products to achieve international honours. Ward was selected for Poland Rugby League after impressing with his club side, Manchester Rangers in the North West Counties League and qualifies for the Eastern European nation through his Grandfather. Ward, now 22, learned his rugby at Audenshaw after joining the school in 2006 and rapidly became a star of his school team. He played club rugby too for Aldwinians RUFC and was a member of the U14 and U16 teams that reached the Lancashire Cup Semi Finals in 2009 and 2011 respectively. He was a key member of the touring party that visited South Africa in 2010 and his maturity and leadership credentials saw him appointed Audenshaw 1st XV Captain in 2012. He attained county honours the same year with Lancashire U17 Rugby League, featuring in the Roses Game that year and was selected again as an U18 the following year. We wish Ricky all the best for this exciting next stage in his rugby career.
