Music A level qualifications will inspire the next generation of students in forming personal and meaningful relationships with music through the development of musical knowledge, understanding and skills.
Students will be encouraged to engage critically and creatively with a wide range of music and musical contexts, develop an understanding of the place of music in different cultures and contexts, and reflect on how music is used in the expression of personal and collective identities.
At Audenshaw School Sixth Form, students follow the Edexcel A level qualifications in Music. This course is 100% externally assessed, and consists of one written paper and two non-examined assessments (NEA).
The course comprises of three components:
Component 1 : Performing
Total performance time of 8 minutes
Performance can be solo and/or ensemble
Component 2: Composing
2 compositions
1 free or free choice brief – min 4 min, 1 brief assessing technique – min 1 min
Component 3: Appraising
6 Areas of Study with 3 set works in each
